I can't stop thinking about the surveillance cameras near Charles Knott’s building. It's mind-boggling to me that in this day and age, there wasn't any footage released that could help identify the shooter or the vehicle more clearly. Was there even a camera outside his apartment? If so, why haven't we seen any updates about what was captured? And if there wasn't, it feels like such a missed opportunity in providing some peace and justice not only for Charles but for his family and the whole Detroit community.
It's so frustrating seeing how a community pillar like Charles, who touched so many lives—especially the kids at Cody High—can just be taken away with no answers. I keep hoping for some sort of break in the case. Stay strong, everyone who knew and loved him, and let's keep pushing for answers.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the way Charles Knott was so deeply involved in his students' lives, especially how he went out of his way to ensure they were not just athletes, but responsible individuals. It's clear that he wasn’t just a coach; he was a mentor and a guide. From everything I've read and heard, it seems like he knew every one of his players personally, understanding their struggles and triumphs off the court as well.
It’s incredibly difficult to comprehend that someone who devoted over three decades to nurturing and supporting youth in a city that has faced its share of struggles would be taken so violently. How do we reconcile a world where a man like that loses his life in such a senseless way? I hope the community can come together to honor his legacy and perhaps even advocate for initiatives that continue his work in some way. My heart goes out to his loved ones and all those who are grappling with this loss. It’s a reminder of how crucial it is to cherish and protect those who do so much good in our lives.
