I’ve been thinking about the role that firearm access played in Marcus Deloney’s tragic death. It’s deeply unsettling how a simple disagreement over a parking space could escalate to such a violent outcome. I can't help but wonder if things would have been different if neither Marcus nor Johnnie had guns at that moment. My heart goes out to Marcus's family, especially his mother, Deborah. To lose someone who was clearly such a positive force—a father, mentor, and community figure—must be profoundly painful. The gun violence issue in Columbus seems to be getting worse, and it’s affecting so many lives. It feels like we as a society need to address how to prevent everyday conflicts from turning deadly. It’s a scary reality that we really need to figure out how to change. What do you all think—would stricter regulations help reduce situations like this, or do we need more community-based solutions?
