Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the role of adrenaline and decision-making during high-stress situations like the one Mark Swaney faced. It’s truly sobering to imagine the intense pressure he and his sergeant must have felt when the scene suddenly turned chaotic. It’s easy to speculate from behind a screen, but in the blink of an eye, they had to assess threats and react. I can't help but wonder about the training protocols they had back then and how they've evolved since 1997. There's so much bravery involved in that split-second decision-making, and yet so much risk too. It's a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of law enforcement work. My heart goes out to his family and colleagues who had to face such an unimaginable situation on what should have been a peaceful holiday.
Does anyone here have insights into how police training for these scenarios might have changed over the years?
