I still find it difficult to wrap my head around the senselessness of what happened at the Citgo gasoline station. One detail that's really stuck with me is the sheer randomness of the attack. Quincy Shane Roush was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s so unsettling to think about how these innocent lives were ripped away in the blink of an eye because of a robbery gone wrong. Allen’s arrest in Texas was almost surreal to me. He had managed to travel all that way, which makes it seem like he was running from more than just the law. The fear and chaos he left in his wake affected so many communities across two states. I can only imagine the pain that Roush’s family felt during that time and the courage it took to face the court proceedings. The loss they experienced is immeasurable and must echo in their lives, even today. Keeping them in my thoughts as they navigate through what must be an incredibly tough journey.
