I keep thinking about the timing of everything. Barbara told her family she was meeting Jones at the hotel, and they reported her missing quickly after she didn't come home. It's awful to think she might have had a sense of creeping dread, yet still went to see him. It breaks my heart that someone so generous and kind, as her friends described her, could find herself in such a terrifying situation. I've been reflecting on how important it is for people to feel they can speak out and reach out for help when they have concerns about someone’s behavior. It just feels like one of those tragedies that might have been preventable if there was a way to intervene earlier—knowing the signs to watch for in these situations. My thoughts are definitely with her family and friends, who must be grappling with so many questions without clear answers.
