Has anyone else been following the Kalani Lee Jacobs case? It's so hard to wrap my head around what happened to him and the impact it has had on our community in Lumberton. I keep thinking about how young he was, just 19, with his whole life ahead of him. It's unsettling to know that his death wasn't just a random act but possibly part of a larger pattern of violence around here. The arrest of Robert Darrell Smith is definitely a step toward justice, but this case highlights the systemic issues we're facing. How can we as a community work to prevent more tragedies like this from happening? I just can't imagine what Kalani’s family is going through right now. Losing a loved one in such a violent way is something no family should ever have to endure. Let's keep them in our thoughts as the legal proceedings continue. Stay safe, everyone.
