I can't help but think about the impact that Beatrice Fells must have had on the kids at Myers Park Traditional Elementary. Working in a school cafeteria might not seem glamorous to some, but it’s such an important role, especially to young students who rely on those familiar faces every day. Beatrice surely made a difference in their lives, even through simple acts of kindness and a warm smile. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for the kids to go to school, knowing someone who cared for them was taken away like that. The fact that this happened in the early morning and led to lockdowns really makes me feel sorry for everyone involved, from the students and staff to the officers who worked so hard to find answers. It must have been terrifying for everyone. I hope that the community’s continued efforts to remember Beatrice and push for closure can one day bring peace to her family and friends. She deserves justice, and I hope somehow, someday, it will be served.
