Hello community,
I've been reading up on Ashley Combs' case, and it really hits hard to see how many cases like hers remain unsolved in Detroit. One aspect that caught my attention is the sheer number of remaining unsolved homicides, especially from the 1980s onwards. It's a daunting backlog for the authorities to tackle. The advances in forensic technology give some hope, but without more community support and resources, it's like fighting an uphill battle.
I wonder how the relationship between the community and police impact these cold cases. If there's mistrust or fear, it could be a big barrier. Maybe more community initiatives focusing on building trust and open communication could help bridge the gap and encourage witnesses or anyone with information to step forward. It would be a significant step in bringing justice not just for Ashley, but for so many forgotten victims.
Ashley's family and friends are in my thoughts. I can only imagine how difficult it is for them. Let's hope continued efforts bring some clarity and peace soon.
Stay safe everyone,

I’ve been thinking a lot about Ashley Combs and how her murder is still unsolved, even after all these years. It’s truly devastating to imagine what her family has endured during this time. I can't help but wonder if there's something more we, as a community, can do to help bring some resolution to cases like hers. There have been some talks about the importance of witness cooperation, but I feel like there's a bit of a gap between the police and the community that needs to be bridged.
The Cold Case Unit is doing their best with the resources they have, but they really need more community support. Maybe if more emphasis was placed on building trust and encouraging people to feel safe when coming forward with information, perhaps more cases could see breakthroughs? I’m curious if anyone has ideas or examples of successful programs in other cities that helped repair this trust and ultimately solve cases? It might be something worth looking into, considering the sheer number of cases still unresolved in Detroit. Keeping Ashley and so many others in our thoughts, but also pushing for action.
I recently read about Ashley Combs' murder, and it truly struck me as a representation of the broader challenges Detroit has faced with unsolved crimes. It's incredibly concerning to see how limited resources and a lack of witness cooperation continue to be significant hurdles for the Detroit Police Department. What's even more alarming is that nearly two-thirds of murders since the 1980s remain unresolved.
I can't imagine the pain her family must feel, especially knowing her case is just one of many that have gone cold. It seems like despite efforts from the Cold Case Unit and advances in forensic technology, the progress is still slow. I wonder what more can be done to encourage witness cooperation and community involvement. Are there any effective programs or initiatives in other cities that Detroit could possibly adopt? My thoughts are with Ashley’s loved ones and all the families still waiting for justice.
