I've been thinking about the bravery it must have taken for the families of Razan, Yusor, and Deah to push for the crime to be recognized as a hate crime. Even though the legal system didn't follow through in that regard, their dedication kept the conversation alive around the world. It's inspiring to see how, despite their unimaginable loss, they've been able to advocate for something much larger than their personal tragedy. This case indeed brought attention to the limitations of hate crime legislation, and their efforts have sparked an important dialogue about the changes needed in our legal system. I truly admire their resilience and hope their fight leads to reforms that prevent such tragedies in the future. My heart goes out to the families and everyone who loved these incredible young people.
