I read about Deon Walker’s case and it's just so distressing to see another family going through such a horrific loss. What really stands out to me is the lack of resources our police have to work with, especially back then in 2013. It seems almost impossible for detectives to make progress with the budget cuts and overwhelming number of cases they have to handle. I truly hope that someone out there who knows something will feel compelled to step up—maybe even anonymously—and provide the information needed to bring some closure to Walker’s loved ones. It's tough to imagine living in a community where such violence is a regular occurrence, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. We've got to find a way to support these communities and assist the police in making them safer for everyone.
