I’ve been following Anthony McCandaney’s case, and it just breaks my heart thinking about how these tragedies continue to affect our communities. I grew up not far from the neighborhood where the shooting happened, and it’s so frustrating to see how many of these cases remain unsolved. It’s like families and friends are just left in this limbo, waiting for justice that seems so elusive. Honestly, I can’t help but wonder why there’s such a lack of leads or witnesses willing to come forward. Is it fear of retaliation, or have people just become so numb to the violence around them? It’s sad to think that Anthony’s family and neighbors have to live amid this fear and uncertainty. I've read about some community programs trying to engage the youth, and that gives me a bit of hope. But it still feels like more needs to be done, especially around providing safe spaces and mentorship. How can we, as a community, push for more effective measures and hold our leaders accountable? It’s crucial for the city to step up and bridge that trust gap before more lives are lost.
