I came across an interesting angle regarding James Bakazan's disappearance that hasn't been talked about much. While the challenging conditions and currents around the USS Vandenberg are well-known, has anyone considered the impact of the specific time of year when he went missing? Early January can bring varying weather patterns that might not only affect visibility but also how currents behave unpredictably in that area.
If strong currents were more intense than usual, could this have influenced his second dive or played a role in a potential equipment malfunction? I'm not an expert, but combining seasonal weather factors with underwater conditions should perhaps be revisited. Bakazan wasn't a novice diver, so it's puzzling why someone with experience would suddenly disappear without any sign. Just throwing this out there—any experienced divers or locals from Florida who might shed light on typical conditions during that time of year?
