I’ve been following the tragic story of Ahmad Campbell and Alisia Dieudonne, and something that stands out to me is the impact this has had on the North Carolina A&T community. As an ex-student myself, I remember how tight-knit the campus felt, and I can't even begin to fathom the void their loss has left. Both Ahmad and Alisia had such promising futures ahead of them, and they were clearly both making strides in their respective fields. It's both upsetting and frustrating that their lives were cut short in such a senseless way. I really hope the university continues to offer support to students who might still be affected by this tragedy, whether it's through counseling or creating a space for students to come together and remember their friends. The arrest of Lawrence Baird might bring some relief, but it's painfully clear that there's a long road ahead for healing. Ahmad and Alisia’s family and friends will be in my thoughts.

Does anyone else feel like this case highlights how crucial community involvement is in solving crimes? I mean, it seemed like a lot of the information that led to Baird's arrest came from tips from people who were there that night or who had heard things. It must have taken tremendous courage for those individuals to come forward, especially given how much time had passed. I can't even imagine the struggle Ahmad's and Alisia’s loved ones have endured over these years, hoping for answers and justice. I just hope this arrest helps in some small way in their healing process. It’s so important to support those who provide crucial information, not just for this case but for the broader effort to make campuses and communities safer. Sending strength and peace to the families, and a reminder to everyone that speaking up can truly make a difference.
