Has anyone else been really affected by the impact this case has had on our community? Anthony Roper was such a central figure in Asheville—someone who proudly served his country and touched the lives of so many around him. It's still hard to wrap my mind around the fact that someone who dedicated himself to his family and faith is no longer with us. I've been following the case closely and can't help but think about the lasting scars this must be leaving on everyone involved, especially Anthony's family. Being a veteran myself, it hits close to home. I hope they can find some peace and justice as this case moves forward. Such a senseless loss. ?

I’ve been thinking about how our community has been trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of Anthony Andrew Roper. While the legal aspects of this case will unfold in court, my heart goes out to everyone who knew him, especially his family and fellow veterans. I've heard from friends and neighbors that he was someone who truly made a difference to those around him—whether it was through his service in the Army or his involvement in local gatherings. It’s incredibly hard to make sense of senseless violence, and it feels all the more shocking happening in our tight-knit community. People who knew Anthony say he was always the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. I hope we can honor his memory by holding on to that spirit of generosity and kindness. Please feel free to share memories or thoughts about Anthony here. It can be therapeutic to remember the good he brought into our lives, even during such dark times.

I've been thinking a lot about the tragic events surrounding Anthony Andrew Roper's death. I wanted to talk about the military connection here because it really hits home for some of us who are veterans or have family who served. Anthony’s service is a reminder of the sacrifices made by so many who join the military, and to see someone who dedicated a part of their life to our country gone in such a senseless manner is truly upsetting. I’ve read that he was really close to his fellow soldiers and never hesitated to help others when he could. I just wish the outcome had been different for both him and his loved ones. Anyone from Asheville or nearby who perhaps knew more about Anthony's time in the army and how it shaped his life? It would be great to hear more about him from folks who might’ve known him personally or through mutual friends. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
