I came across something that’s been bothering me since I first read about James Edward Legg’s case. It’s the bond amount set for Ethan John Booker. How does someone charged with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon get released on a $50,000 bond? I can’t wrap my head around it. It feels so insufficient given the gravity of the charges. This isn't just about the legalities for me; it's about the message it sends to victims’ families. It's a painful reminder for Darlene Andoh and James' little boy that justice might not be served fully. I hope there's more to this story that we don’t see yet because this aspect alone really doesn’t sit right. Sending strength to James' family and hoping that new developments will provide them some peace.
Has anyone looked into the location of the shooting? The 900 block of West Main Street is really close to Brightleaf Square, a popular area with lots of nightlife and foot traffic. It makes me wonder if there were any witnesses who haven't come forward yet. Maybe they saw something that could shed light on the altercation leading up to this tragic event. If anyone was in the area that night, even if it seemed like nothing important at the time, it might help James Legg's family get some answers. I can't imagine what they must be going through right now, especially his little boy who has lost his father. If anyone knows more about the surroundings or how busy it usually gets around 2 a.m., it might be worth discussing further.
