Just stumbled upon Sean Hawley's case and can't stop thinking about the whole Stave Island situation. It seems odd that his kayak and gear were found there, yet not a single trace of him. If he planned to camp, wouldn’t he have told someone, or at least packed more supplies? It's baffling how his belongings were found, but he just vanished into thin air. Does anyone know if search teams brought in any scent-tracking dogs to scour that island? Also, what about the currents in that part of Lake Champlain—do they lean towards Plattsburgh or back to Burlington? Wondering if they could have played a role in his disappearance. If anyone has more insight into how thorough the search around that area was, I'd love to hear it. Keeping fingers crossed that one day there will be some closure for his family.
Does anyone else find it puzzling that Sean Hawley's kayak was found on Stave Island but there's still no sign of him? The island’s only two miles from where he was last seen, so it's not too far of a distance to paddle. Given the time he was last spotted, it wouldn't have been an easy journey in the dark, especially past 11 pm. I'm curious if anyone has info on what the weather conditions were like that night. Could strong winds or currents have played a role in this? It seems odd that he made it to the island, possibly camped out, and then disappeared without a trace. Are there any locals who know of specific spots around Stave Island that could pose hidden dangers to someone unfamiliar with the area? Wondering if there's something we might be missing that could explain how he vanished so completely.
