Has anyone else been wondering about the lack of prior domestic violence calls to Erica's home? It seems so baffling that there were no official reports or red flags before this horrible crime. It’s tough not to second-guess and wonder if there were subtle signs that went unnoticed or unreported. It's devastating to think of Erica trying to handle things on her own, especially when she had so much on her plate with six children to care for. It's such a reminder for us to check in on our loved ones and make sure they're genuinely okay. I keep thinking about how her remaining kids must feel—you'd hope they find some peace and healing in the future. ?

I came across this case recently, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about Erica Smith and her kids. I can't even begin to imagine the terror they must have felt that night. It's so incredibly sad that someone so full of life and love was taken so violently. I've read that Erica was really active in her church, especially with the children's church and the praise dance team. It sounds like she brought so much joy to the community, and those kids must have adored her. It's troubling to think there were no prior calls about domestic violence. I wonder if anyone close to Erica had any idea about what was happening behind closed doors. Sometimes people are so good at putting on a brave face, or maybe they think they can handle it until it's too late. It's important we learn from these tragedies. Hopefully, it encourages more people to speak up or reach out if they sense something is wrong. My heart goes out to their family and the whole West Asheville community. They've been through something unimaginable, and I hope they find some peace and healing. How do you all think communities can better identify and support those who might be experiencing domestic violence?
