I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of community in these tragic incidents, especially in cases like Decario Bethea’s. It's devastating to see another young life lost to senseless violence. I wonder how this affects the people living in the Southside Apartments community and nearby areas. Places where such tragedies occur often become stigmatized, and I think it's worth discussing how we, as a community, can uplift these neighborhoods rather than abandon them. If you've lived in or near such places, what are some effective ways you've seen or been part of that help support healing and prevent future violence? Supporting programs for youth and creating safe spaces can be powerful, but it often feels like a huge uphill battle. How do we keep pushing forward?
