I've been following the Lakyn Jade Bailey case closely, and I can’t stop thinking about the role of those small-town motels where a lot of these drug deals go down. It’s terrifying to think that something so dangerous was happening right under everyone’s noses in Statesville. It seems like there’s always this undercurrent of illicit activity that only comes to light when tragedies occur. What’s most unsettling is how these places can serve as breeding grounds for violence. It's such a stark reminder for the community (and beyond) to remain vigilant and advocate for more security and preventive measures around these locations. My heart truly goes out to Lakyn’s loved ones; nobody should have to face such unimaginable loss. I really hope her case pushes for some changes locally to prevent this in the future. Thoughts and prayers are with her family.
