I’ve been thinking a lot about the Snapchat aspect of this case. It’s just a chilling reminder of how these social media platforms can play such pivotal roles in our lives — and, unfortunately, in our downfalls. It’s heartbreaking to see how something that’s meant to connect people can also facilitate such dangerous meetings. Jacary, by all accounts, had such a bright future, and to think that a simple message exchange led to the events of that night is mind-boggling. I'm hoping that more awareness can be raised about the risks of arranging meetups through these channels, especially among younger kids. It would be nice to see schools and parents being more proactive in having these discussions. My thoughts are with Jacary's family as they navigate this unimaginably difficult time. He deserved so much better.
