I've been following the case of Xavier Stevenson and Myla Payne, and it's been truly devastating to read about. Something that stands out to me is the sheer senselessness of the act. From what’s been reported, it seems like Young and Carter had known Xavier and Myla from high school. It’s hard to fathom how anyone could turn on someone they once walked the halls with in such a brutal way. I can’t help but wonder about the community at South Brunswick High School. Those who went to school with all four of them must be in disbelief, caught between mourning their friends and reconciling that two of their peers could commit such an act. It’s unimaginable the shock and sorrow the teachers, students, and alumni must be feeling. It's so important to support the families and friends of Xavier and Myla during this time, as well as the wider community affected. This kind of tragedy leaves a scar that's deep and far-reaching. As we discuss this case, let's not forget to extend empathy and remember Xavier and Myla as the young individuals they were, full of potential and promise.
