I've been following the case of Jason Gill-Best, and I can't help but think about the role that the media and music play in perpetuating gang violence. SMB's presence in rap videos seems like a way to glamorize a lifestyle that's both dangerous and devastating. It's troubling how these narratives can influence young people who might see this life as glamorous or the only path available to them. I wonder if there’s a way the community could come together to create alternative narratives for youths in Detroit. It must be incredibly tough for Jason’s family to see this kind of influence getting so much attention, even after losing their loved one. It's like a constant reminder of what took him away from them. It seems like a public effort to shift focus from glorifying violence to building up the community could be part of the healing process, but implementing that is no easy task. Thoughts?
