It's been bothering me that Rebecca's phone was found about a mile away from her abandoned car. That seems like such a significant distance, especially in a rural area where every step counts. Why was it separated from her other belongings? Was she trying to get a signal or maybe running from someone?
The fact that her cellphone was found after an extensive search suggests something went wrong during her journey. Did Rebecca leave it as a clue? Was she trying to contact someone but had to drop it in a hurry? Also, if the phone was tossed or dropped, it seems calculated or out of desperation. I wish there was more info on the condition it was found in. Hopefully, investigators analyzed it for fingerprints, although it's been so many years now.
This gap of a mile just feels like a huge, unanswered question. If anyone local remembers anything unusual from that area around that time or has any insight into that stretch of road, it might be a piece of the puzzle we're missing.
Has anyone looked into the surveillance footage from the day Rebecca was last seen? I'm curious if there's more that might have been missed, or if it might help to go over it again with fresh eyes. It was stated she was seen with Poisso Jr., but could there have been anyone else in view around the area that day? Maybe someone who didn't look suspicious at the time but could now? The case has been cold for too long, and sometimes going back to the basics can help spark new leads. Just a thought, but could be worth revisiting that footage if it's still available. What do others think about this angle?
