I’ve been following Oscar Steele’s case closely, and I can’t stop thinking about the incredible work he did in our community. “Guns Down, Gloves Up” was such a powerful initiative. It’s so tragic that someone who dedicated his life to reducing gun violence fell victim to it. The fact that he was encouraging young people to use boxing as an outlet is something that resonated deeply with many of us here in Charlotte. His mother, Laura, must be going through so much right now, and my heart really goes out to her and the rest of his family. I hope that during the upcoming extradition of those charged from Texarkana, all facts will come to light. Charlotte has lost a true advocate, and it’s vital that justice is served for Oscar and everyone who believed in his mission. The boxing matches in his honor are a beautiful tribute, and I hope the community continues to rally around his message and keep his legacy alive.

Has anyone else been following the case of Oscar Steele's tragic death? I can't stop thinking about the fact that he dedicated so much of his time trying to prevent the very kind of violence that took him away. It’s so devastating to lose someone who was actively trying to make a difference in the community, especially to something as senseless as this. I'm also really curious about the two suspects, Kareem Johnson and Karnell Lawrence. It's baffling that the police haven't released information on whether they knew Oscar. Were they connected through the program he ran or was this a random act of violence? The fact that they were caught all the way in Texarkana makes me wonder if they were trying to escape or planning something else entirely. In any case, Oscar's program, "Guns Down, Gloves Up," has been a beacon of hope for so many. It must be so hard for his family to continue his mission in the wake of this. My heart goes out to his mother, Laura, and everyone else who loved him. Let's keep pushing for answers and justice in his memory.

Has anyone else been touched by the irony and tragedy of Oscar Steele's murder? It's just gut-wrenching to think about how someone who dedicated his life to steering young people away from gun violence met such a fate. Oscar wasn't just any advocate; he was someone actively making a difference in his community. The "Guns Down, Gloves Up" program seemed like such a positive initiative, and it doesn't seem right for his life to be cut short in this way. The suspects, Kareem Johnson and Karnell Lawrence, being so young themselves, makes you wonder how these cycles of violence perpetuate in communities despite the positive influences around them. It's difficult to process how a man like Oscar, who was breaking these cycles, was taken in such a violent manner. I'm hoping the upcoming memorial service brings some comfort to his family and the community at large. It’s bittersweet to see how many people have come together to support Oscar's mission, even as they mourn his loss. Justice needs to prevail for Oscar and for anyone else who advocates for change and ends up becoming a victim of the very issue they fought against. How do you all think we can continue Oscar’s legacy and ensure his work isn’t forgotten?
