Has anyone else been following the court proceedings in Jalen Scott Dunston’s case? It’s been really difficult seeing those young faces in court and knowing they were involved in taking such a promising life. I can’t help but feel for both families involved. Erika Jones, Jalen’s mother, has shown incredible strength through all of this, but I imagine every court date must tear open wounds she's desperately trying to heal. I heard she’s been attending every hearing, hoping for justice for her son. As the case unfolds, I keep thinking about how this reflects on the wider issue of gun violence that plagues our communities. It’s hard not to be frustrated when you realize how many promising futures are cut short by it. Jalen had so much potential and a bright future ahead, and it’s just such a devastating loss. I truly hope that, through all this, more attention will be given to preventing such tragedies. To those affected by this, you're in my thoughts. If anyone has updates from the trial or knows how the community can continue to support Jalen’s family and the scholarship fund, please share.
