I've been following the discussion about Nicholas J. Ellis's tragic death, and my thoughts go out to his family, especially his children who lost their dad way too soon. Something that's been on my mind is the location where this all unfolded—Pender Street Park. It's supposed to be a place for relaxation and community, especially for someone like Nicholas, who loved basketball and probably spent hours there. The idea that a place associated with joy and community could become a site of violence is just so unsettling. I wonder how this will affect the community's perception of the park moving forward. Does anyone know if there have been talks about measures to address safety there? It would be a shame if the park became a place to avoid rather than a place to enjoy.
