Just when I think about the time and place of this crime, it just breaks my heart thinking about Lena's family having to deal with this loss. A busy Saturday afternoon, broad daylight—it's unnerving how bold and reckless some acts of violence can be. The Lane Express Food Mart is a place many would feel safe to stop by, and now it's marked by such a horrific event. I really hope that the ongoing investigation provides some clarity to those who knew Lena. Like many of you, I can't imagine the pain her family and friends are going through right now. It’s such a small solace, but I’m glad Nolan Graves was apprehended so quickly—at least that part was swift. I wish peace and strength for Lena’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

The Lane Express Food Mart must've been a familiar spot for many in Kannapolis, which makes it feel even closer to home for everyone who lived around there.
