I’ve been following the tragic case of Jaterrious Lamont Moore, and it's really tough to grasp how another life has been senselessly lost. I can’t imagine the pain his family must be going through right now. Something that strikes me is the timing of the incident – it happened around 3:20 a.m. in a motel parking lot. It makes me wonder about the circumstances leading up to that moment. Was this a premeditated act or did things escalate unexpectedly? It’s hard not to think about what could have been done differently to prevent this tragedy. The suspect, Delvario Boyce Jr., is just 18 too. It's devastating to see two young lives are now forever altered by this event – one life lost entirely and another likely to face serious consequences. As the community seeks justice for Jaterrious, I hope we also reflect on how we can prevent such incidents among our youth in the future. We need more programs or outreach that really connect with young people in meaningful ways. Hoping for strength and peace for Jaterrious's family and friends during this incredibly challenging time.
