I was just thinking about the impact of Donna Blackmon's tragic death on her husband, Lorenza. I can't even begin to imagine the pain he must be going through, especially being right there when it all happened. They spent 20 years together, and having that ripped away in such a random, violent manner must feel unbearable. It’s clear from what he’s said that he’s carrying a lot of guilt, not being able to protect her despite his background as a veteran. I just hope he’s getting the support he needs and knows that it’s not his fault. What struck me as heartbreaking is how these were just kids, 14 and 15 years old, making such catastrophic choices that ended a life and ruined their own futures. The ripple effect on their families, Donna’s loved ones, and really the entire community just shows how far-reaching the consequences of such violence are. We really need to address the root causes of why young kids are getting involved in this kind of activity. It's such a devastating loss all around.
