Hey everyone, just jumping in to share something that's been bothering me about the Edward and Stephanie Hunsberger case. I find it really strange that Dr. Jay Smith was quick to say they fled to California because of debts. It just seems like such a convenient explanation, almost like he was trying to deflect any suspicion. If they were in that much danger, you'd think there would have been some kind of communication or sign of life afterward. Plus, why would they just leave all their belongings and not reach out to anyone, especially considering their fragile state with recovery? Also, considering Dr. Smith’s later arrest and his claim that the drugs found in his possession belonged to the Hunsbergers, it makes me question how involved he might have been with whatever happened to them. Was he trying to cover his tracks or shift the blame? It might not be direct evidence, but it's a string of suspicious behavior that's hard to ignore. Anyone else think there's more to his story? Would love to hear your thoughts or theories!

I was reading through some old newspaper archives on Edward and Stephanie's disappearance and it's got me thinking about Dr. Smith's story about them fleeing to California. Has anyone looked into whether there were any reported sightings out there around that time? It seems like such a convenient tale for Smith to spin, especially given the lack of evidence. Also, with Dr. Smith's arrest later that year, it makes me wonder if there might have been more to his story than just drug possession. Could he have been involved in other shady dealings that might offer clues? Anyone have any insights or theories on this angle?

Does anyone else find it odd that Dr. Jay Smith claims Edward and Stephanie went to California, yet there's zero evidence they ever got there? I mean, if they were so desperate to get away from drug debts, wouldn't there at least be a paper trail of some kind like bus or plane tickets? It just feels like a story that’s a little too convenient—especially considering Smith's later arrest for drug possession. And what's up with the drugs found at Smith's place? Seriously, does anyone buy that those belonged to the Hunsbergers? I keep circling back to Smith’s story and how it doesn’t seem to add up. Just a gut feeling, but something's fishy there. Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this angle of the case.
