Hey everyone, I’ve been reading through the discussions here about the tragic fate of Kevin Smith, and I can't help but feel frustrated about the broader challenges facing Detroit. I recently came across the fact that since 1980, the city has grappled with over 8,000 homicides, and many like Kevin’s remain unsolved. It’s heartbreaking knowing that so many of these cases have gone cold simply because of limited resources and a lack of leads. The real kicker here is the role the community can play. I’m aware that Detroit's Cold Case Unit has been pushing for more community involvement, like their initiative with the cold case webpage. It makes me wonder—how can we better support and promote these efforts? What else can be done to empower witnesses to come forward without fear? It’s hard not to feel for Kevin’s family. They’re still waiting for answers and closure, as are so many others in similar situations. Sharing stories and keeping these cases active in discussions seems like one small way we can help. Just hoping and praying that someday, justice will be served. Thoughts on how we can keep these cases fresh in public dialogue? Other communities facing similar issues—how have they handled this? Stay strong, everyone.

Has anyone else been following the case of Kevin Smith from Detroit? It's been so many years, and it’s frustrating to think his family still hasn't gotten the closure they so desperately need. I just read about the city's cold case initiatives and how they’re trying to use new DNA technologies, but the sheer number of unsolved cases feels overwhelming. I can’t even imagine the emotional toll this must be taking on Kevin’s loved ones. It seems like the system keeps failing victims and their families. Does anyone here know if there’s been any recent push in the community for more resources or support? I'd love to hear about what’s being done or what we might be able to do to contribute to change.
