Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the basketball community's loss in Winston-Salem with Corey Simons' tragic passing. As someone who played ball through high school, I can only imagine the kind of impact he must’ve had on his teammates and friends. It’s hard to lose someone who was not just an athlete but also a pillar of support and motivation for others. Those friendships and bonds formed on the court are cherished forever, and I’m sure all his teammates are feeling his absence deeply right now.
I can’t help but wonder if his love for basketball somehow ties into the events of that night. Was he possibly meeting up with someone or was it related to something more personal? The fact that this wasn't a random act leaves so many unanswered questions. It’s distressing knowing that people who shared such strong friendships and passion with him are left in this void of uncertainty.
My heart goes out to Corey’s family and friends. Losing someone so young is unimaginable. Hoping the community continues to rally around them and that they find strength in each other. Let’s continue to keep them in our thoughts and hope the investigation provides the answers they need soon.
Stay safe out there. ?

I've been following Corey Simons' case closely, and it's just so sorrowful to think how much potential was lost. Something that strikes me about this tragedy is the role that the location might have played. Deacon Way Court, from what I understand, is usually a quiet area. Does anyone from the Winston-Salem community know if there had been any previous incidents there, or if it's become a hotspot for trouble lately?
It's alarming to think one moment you're just out and about, and the next, such a life-altering event happens. I can't help but think about Corey's family and what they must be going through, not only losing Corey but also dealing with the uncertainty of not having any arrests made yet. I hope the community bands together to shed some light on what might have transpired that night. Sending strength to all who were close to Corey and Marcus.
