Does anyone else find it unbelievable how things were handled in the early 1900s? Reading about Chief J. B. Hare's tragic death, it's shocking to me that there were no arrests or deeper investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death. I understand that the officer who shot him was also killed, but it seems like such a significant loss for the Baton Rouge Police Department and community would have warranted more scrutiny. Hare gave 25 years of his life to the force, and he tried to de-escalate a dangerous situation, only to lose his life in the line of duty. It's just devastating to think about the impact this had on his wife and children. They deserved answers, and it's frustrating to know that wasn't the path taken back then. It makes me appreciate the advancements in investigative processes today, but my heart goes out to Hare’s family and the Baton Rouge community of the time.
