How can you just disappear with a child behind? I am glad she was found alive but what happened? What made her vanish?

Hey all, just stumbled across Helen Marie Craig's case and was intrigued by one aspect. Does anyone else find it strange that there was such a delay in reporting her missing? Her father didn't report her disappearance until several months later. That gap seems really unusual, especially since Helen's friends and family were worried because she hadn't contacted her daughter. I wonder if there was any specific reason or circumstances behind the delay. Could it have impacted the investigation early on? Maybe someone here might have some insight or theories. It just feels like a crucial part of the story that's worth discussing. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Has anyone else looked into the connection between Helen Marie Craig's disappearance and the places she was last seen? I find it intriguing that she was reported missing from Plunketts Creek Township but was later spotted in different locations like Loyalsock Township and Williamsport. It seems like each place holds a piece of the puzzle, but I'm wondering if there's a reason she moved from one area to another within such a short timeframe. Did she have friends or acquaintances in these areas that might have more information but haven’t come forward? With Helen having used multiple last names, tracking her movements must have been challenging, but maybe focusing on these locations could bring some new insights or witness statements. Anyone have thoughts or know more about the areas she was seen in?
Has anyone deep-dived into the fact that Helen Marie Craig was sometimes reported to use different last names? I find it intriguing that she had aliases like Heim, Major, Morris, and Prescott. Could these names provide clues or connections we might be missing? Perhaps she had specific reasons or situations where she felt the need to use these different identities. It's definitely a unique aspect of her case. We should pay attention to the circles she moved in or any documented relationships or employment under those names. Anyone familiar with the area or history of that time period have insights into whether using different last names would be significant or if it was common for women to do so for safety or privacy reasons? Maybe that could point us in a new direction.
