I’ve been thinking a lot about how this incident must have been devastating for Detective Thomas’s family. Losing a loved one under such sudden and violent circumstances is unimaginable. I saw an interview where his wife spoke about the bravery Joseph showed every day and how proud she was of him. It's so important to remember the real people behind these stories. His daughter, who was just on the way when this tragedy happened, has grown up without her father and never got the chance to know him in person. I wonder what kind of support systems have been in place for them over the years. These kinds of losses ripple through families and leave long-lasting impacts.
