I’ve been thinking a lot about Emmanuel Jethro lately, especially regarding the impact gun violence has on a community. It’s beyond tragic to think about how his life—and the lives of so many like him—were suddenly stolen. Emmanuel was apparently quite involved in his local community, and I'm struck by how often these kinds of losses affect not just families, but entire neighborhoods and cities. It's just exhausting that it’s become such a common narrative in places like New Orleans. Did anyone ever hear more about community initiatives or events that were set up in his memory? I feel like acts of kindness and coming together in the wake of such tragedies really speak to human resilience. It's sort of a testament to how his legacy might continue to inspire positive change amidst all the sadness. My heart truly goes out to his family and friends who knew him personally—even as strangers, we feel the loss, and it makes us all really reflect on what we can do to support those around us and perhaps slow this cycle of violence.
