I've been thinking a lot about Boulao Sanouvong and her family as I read through the information about her case. One thing that's been really sticking with me is the role domestic violence may have played. It’s crushing to think about the possibility that Boulao might have faced such a threat before her tragic death. In so many communities, domestic violence remains hidden until it escalates to something this devastating. I keep wondering what signs, if any, were there and how they could have been addressed in time to prevent this tragedy. It's so important that as a society we find ways to support victims and provide them safe avenues for speaking out. My heart goes out to Boulao’s daughters, Amy and Mary. It’s hard to imagine what they must be going through and the strength they’ll need to cope with such a terrible loss.
