I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of community support systems and how they might have made a difference in the Forbis tragedy. I'm from a town not too far from West Monroe, so this really hits close to home for me. Katelin Dulaney seemed like she was handling things well enough on the outside, which makes me wonder about the effectiveness and accessibility of mental health resources for people like her. I feel for the family members left behind, grappling with these sudden losses. Many times, people don't realize they have support avenues until it's too late. Could more outreach have helped Katelin feel less isolated? Were there warning signs that simply went unnoticed? It’s apparent that we need more conversations surrounding mental health, and communities must come together to ensure everyone feels supported. If anyone here has experience with mental health advocacy, perhaps sharing some resources could be beneficial—not just in retrospect, but also as a way to prevent future tragedies. My thoughts are with the family and West Monroe community during this unfathomable time.
