I can't stop thinking about the bravery and dedication Deputy Bares showed even when he was off duty. It's truly daunting. Imagine noticing something suspicious and choosing to step in to help, even when you’ve got no obligation to do so at that moment. It really highlights his commitment to protecting his community. It's horrible that such a dedicated officer had his life cut short in such a tragic way.
And those two men who did this—I'm glad they were caught and justice was served with their life sentences. It's still so unfair that Deputy Bares' family has to go through this pain. I hope his wife and kids have found some support and strength in the past years. If anyone has updates on how his family and colleagues are doing now, it’d be appreciated to hear how the community has rallied behind them.
