I’ve been following Milan Arriola’s case, and it really makes me think about how much she was caught between two worlds—one of promise and one of chaos. Being the daughter of both a firefighter and a police officer, Milan must have grown up understanding the value of community service and protection. Her senseless death in the middle of what should've been just another night feels like such a robbery of potential. It's also a sobering reminder of how violence doesn’t discriminate and can so easily spill over into the lives of amazing young individuals, affecting so many around them. Heartfelt sympathies go out to her family, who, despite their ties to law enforcement themselves, faced the unimaginable. I hope cases like this push for more meaningful change in tackling gun violence so other families don’t have to experience such loss.
