I've been following the Joseph Washington case, and one detail that haunts me is the role of Shanyka Phillips. It's chilling to think someone could assist in such a horrific event, even after the fact. The charges against her for being an accessory seem to suggest she had some involvement in helping him escape, but what compelled her to do it? Was it out of fear, loyalty, or something else entirely? I can't imagine the pain of the families affected by this tragedy. As the community processes these events, understanding the motivations behind each participant's actions might hopefully prevent future tragedies. Thoughts?
