I've been following the tragic events surrounding Corporal Montrell Lyle Jackson and can't stop thinking about the ripple effects this ambush must have had on the Baton Rouge community. It’s so painful to consider the void left in the police department and among his family and friends. I recently read about the various memorials held in their honor, and it’s a poignant reminder of the courage these officers exhibited in such perilous circumstances. The way Baton Rouge has come together to honor them is incredibly moving. It must provide some comfort to Corporal Jackson’s family to see the outpouring of respect and gratitude for his service and sacrifice. It’s essential we continue to support them and the families of all the officers affected as they navigate this unthinkable loss.
