I've been thinking a lot about how this tragedy has impacted the community in New Roads. It seems like everyone knew Latonya, or at least someone in her family. I heard that friends and neighbors have come together to support her child after witnessing something so horrible. The resilience of this kid is unbelievable, and I hope they're getting the help and care they need. It's painful to see a life cut short and a family torn apart like this. It's a reminder of how important it is to look out for one another and take action if we notice anything potentially harmful in relationships around us. My heart goes out to everyone affected. I just can't stop thinking about how Latonya's child had to witness something so unimaginable. It's haunting to think about the extent to which domestic violence can affect not just the direct victims but also those who are close to them, especially young children. Children should never have to witness such violence, let alone carry that memory with them for the rest of their lives.
