I've been following Jericho Smith's heartbreaking case since it first made the news, and something that really stands out to me is the role of the community in this tragedy. It was the neighbors who first became aware of the situation, and their quick thinking in getting help truly showcases the power of community vigilance. It’s devastating that it ended in such tragedy, but I find some comfort in the fact that people in that neighborhood stepped up when they sensed something was wrong. I can’t help but think about those other kids in the house and what they must be going through. I hope they’re getting the support they need. Knowing that others cared enough to act, even in a small way, might be a tiny light in this awful situation. It makes me wonder how we can all be more vigilant and proactive in our own communities to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future. My thoughts are with those poor kids and all of Jericho’s family and friends. This case is just beyond comprehension.
