I can't stop thinking about Derrick's murder and the lack of progress in the case. It’s been years, and yet no arrests have been made. It's incredibly frustrating and deeply saddening for those who knew and loved "Doodie." He was just a kid riding his bike—it's horrifying to think about what his family must be going through. The violence in Baton Rouge is out of control, and Derrick's case is such a stark reminder that so much more needs to be done to protect our young people. I really hope that someone, somewhere, comes forward soon with information that brings his family some peace and leads to justice. Let's keep spreading the word and keeping Derrick's story alive in our hearts and minds.

I was reading about Derrick Smith, or "Doodie" as he was lovingly called, and it just breaks my heart to see another promising young life taken. I couldn’t help but think about how everyday activities like riding a bike should be safe for everyone, especially teenagers who should be focusing on growing up, school, and dreams for the future. What really gets to me is how such cases remain unsolved. I imagine how painful this must be for his family, having to live with the uncertainty and no answers. The lack of resolution only seems to add salt to their wounds. I truly hope that someone who knows something will come forward, even if it's just a small piece of information, and that justice will be served for Derrick and his loved ones. In times like this, it's crucial for the community to come together and push for changes that address the root causes of gun violence. Maybe there’s a way to channel the community’s grief and anger towards transformative actions that can prevent other families from experiencing this same pain. My thoughts are with Derrick’s family and friends as they navigate through this unimaginable loss.
