I've been following the New Bedford Highway murders and just read about Rochelle Clifford Dopierala's tragic end. It really struck me how such a vibrant young woman with so much ahead of her could be taken away in such a violent manner. What makes this case even more chilling is considering the possibility of a link between these victims. I can't help but think about the fear and vulnerability Rochelle and the others must have felt, especially given the high-risk lifestyle they were believed to be involved in. It's frustrating to think about how sociopolitical issues around drug use and sex work at the time might have influenced the investigation's direction and urgency. These women deserved the same attention and resources as any other missing person, and I hope there's still a chance for justice so many years later. It's awful to think about the family and friends who have been waiting decades for answers. People who knew Rochelle have been waiting nearly 40 years for closure that just hasn't come. I'm hoping that with new technology and renewed interest, someone out there will be able to help bring answers to this case.
