I was struck by Niya Norris's testimony during the trial. I can't even begin to fathom the pain she's enduring. Hearing about Emmitt's aspirations to join the Air Force really brings home the tragedy of this senseless act. He had his whole life ahead of him, full of potential and dreams. I think it's so important that Emmitt is remembered not just as a victim, but as a young man with goals and ambitions. It's hard not to feel the emotional weight every time someone shares memories of him. I hope the evidence presented helps bring some sense of justice and peace to Emmitt’s family and friends. They deserve closure just as much as our community deserves to heal from this loss. Does anyone here know if there are any community initiatives or memorials in place for Emmitt? It feels like we should do something to honor his memory beyond the courtroom.
