I wanted to take a moment to discuss something that’s been on my mind regarding the Robert Haynes case: the impact of community distrust on solving crimes like this one. It’s heartbreaking to think that Robert's murder might remain unsolved partly because of a lack of trust between the people who might have witnessed something and the authorities trying to solve it. From everything I've read, the Fruitvale District has had a rough history with violent crimes, and I wonder how much that affects the residents' willingness to come forward. If people don’t feel safe or believe that their voices will genuinely lead to change, they might hold back, even if they have crucial information. Imagine knowing something that could bring closure to Robert's family but being too scared or skeptical to speak out. It's a tough position for anyone to be in. I wish there were more community engagement efforts or initiatives that help rebuild trust so more people feel empowered to help solve cases like Robert's. RIP Robert Haynes.
