I came across an interesting detail about the suspect in Chief Struble's case that I hadn't seen mentioned before. It's quite puzzling how the suspect first confessed, even went so far as to show a scar that he claimed was from the struggle on that tragic night, but then later recanted his confession. It's more than frustrating, as it added an extra layer of complexity and uncertainty to this already tragic situation. Imagine how agonizing it must have been for Chief Struble's family and colleagues, holding onto hope that maybe they'd get some resolution, only for it to slip away again when the suspect was acquitted. This case really underscores the difficulties investigators faced back in the day—without modern forensic tech, proving guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt must have been incredibly challenging. I really hope that somehow, someday, there's some closure for Chief Struble's family. Thoughts with them.
