I’ve been thinking about the parole system's role in cases like Asher Gruenberg’s. It's chilling to know that Gary Rardon was released on parole in 1967 despite being labeled "near psychotic" and "very dangerous." Just wondering how something like this slips through the cracks. It makes it hard to wrap my head around how someone with such potential for violence was back on the streets. Asher and the other victims might still be here if the warning signs were heeded. For Asher’s family, knowing that must be an unbearable thought. It’s a harsh reminder of the real-world consequences when parole decisions don’t fully account for someone's risk to society. What changes do you all think are needed to prevent something like this in the future?

Does anyone know if there were any missed opportunities by law enforcement to stop Gary Rardon before he tragically took the life of Asher Gruenberg and the other victims? It seems like such a terrible pattern of violent behavior should have set off more alarms. Asher just seemed like an ordinary guy working hard to support himself, and it’s devastating to think this could’ve been prevented. It’s frustrating to see someone with a known history of violence and psychiatric issues slip through the cracks like that. My heart goes out to Asher's family and everyone affected by this. ?️
